Our aluminium plantation shutters use 6063-T5 aluminium alloy with integrated top and bottom rail construction. Weight per square metre is 40% lower than equivalent timber shutters, making them suitable for oversized openings up to 3.2m height without structural reinforcement.
Unlike wood or PVC, aluminium shutters maintain dimensional stability across temperature ranges from -20°C to +60°C, with zero warping or UV degradation after 2,000-hour accelerated weathering tests. This makes them the only material in our range suitable for unprotected outdoor installation in ANZ coastal environments.

INTEGRATED TOP/BOTTOM RAILS
One-piece aluminium frame construction eliminates joint failure points. CNC-machined mortise and tenon connections at corners tested to 500kg lateral load.

Zero warping across -20°C to +60°C temperature range. Passes 2,000-hour UV accelerated weathering test. Suitable for unprotected coastal installation.

WHERE ALUMINIUM
FALLS SHORT.
Aluminium shutters offer lower thermal insulation (R-value ~0.8) compared to our timber range (R-value ~1.6) and hollow PVC range (R-value ~1.2). Metal conducts heat and cold more readily than wood or plastic, which means less effective temperature buffering in extreme climates.
The surface feels cold to touch in winter and can become uncomfortably hot in direct summer sun. Acoustic damping is also weaker -- aluminium transmits more impact noise than wood when louvres close.
Best fit: Outdoor shading applications, commercial projects prioritising durability over thermal performance, and modern minimalist residential interiors where the industrial aesthetic is intentional.
Not ideal: Heritage homes requiring period-accurate timber appearance, or residential bedrooms where acoustic insulation is a priority.

Standard production lead time is 20-30 days ex-factory for aluminium plantation shutters. Physical samples dispatched within 3-7 business days. Minimum order 50 units per colour/specification for first container; replenishment orders from 10 units per SKU.
Custom hardware integration: Our in-house CNC machining centres can modify frame geometry to accommodate project-specific hinge systems, magnetic catches, or motorised tilt rods without tooling charges for orders above 200 units.
Colour matching: Powder-coat finish available in any RAL, Dulux, or custom colour specification. Provide Pantone/colour chip at sampling stage; we maintain batch consistency within ΔE <1.2 across your entire project volume.
